19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev won his first trophy for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a former number one, has experienced a difficult period, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in especial - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with former coach Cervara.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.

This represents his first title since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court after spring of 2023.

Success also indicates Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at 21 distinct events.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my children together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six finals, comprising in that event in the past months.

His counter-punching play style and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had prompted observers to wonder if his skill to compete at the highest level was concluded.

But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play aggressively, supported by an improved serving game.

The champion came back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped service breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his initial professional title, gained dominance to force a final set.

Moutet rescued four initial break points in a close third set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, he clinched victory with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
